Dear Parents,
The class came through their round of STAAR Ready assessments like champs! I saw them taking their time, showing their thinking and taking it seriously. Best of all I saw improvement from everyone and I can use the data to guide instruction in the days moving towards the real STAAR.
The Valentine's Day party was a success thanks to the wonderful parents who donate, and donate and donate some more. We had fun themed math, goodies and games. The craft - meh. That's on me. We had a little longer party time last year and it was calmer and more guided. So we rolled with the sugar shock and had fun. It wasn't planned, but I loved letting the class show the parents that attended some of their science learning. They are seriously engaged and excited.
So ... the Economic Fair papers went home today. Yellow, think yellow! This is the "next big thing" in third grade and hopefully my wonderful supportive parents won't revolt. There's a powerpoint here that can help explain things and you can look at last year's pictures here. Also a vocabulary list went home that is a duplicate of the one we'll use in class (except we will be drawing pictures to help our memories). Please if you have any questions ask me. This ABSOLUTELY should NOT be a big expense. $5 average.
Yearbook Pictures - Y'all ... I keep seeing the call for pictures for the yearbook. I won't submit any because I don't want to be accused of favoritism but please look through our class photos and feel free to submit your kiddo's pics.
